The Church
The belltower and flagpole
The St.Mary's Orthodox Church is located at a walking distance from the heart of Shornur town situated in the banks of Bharathapuzha river.
The church with a beautiful newly built structure reflects the Orthodox architectural style.
It is the headquarter of Shornur block and is located 49 kms west of district headquarters of Palakkad.

The history of church shows a splendid picture of religious harmony as Shri Sankaran Namboothiri of Kozhissery Mana donated 1.1 acre of land for building a Christian church in 1946 A D.
The foundation stone was laid for a structure on 25th March 1946 by H.H. Baselios Geevarghese 2nd, Catholicose and Malankara Metropolitan.
H.H.Baselios Geevarghese 2nd consecrated the newly built church on 27th September 1948.
The foundation for current structure was laid by H.G.Dr.Zacariah Mar Theophilos, Metropolitan of Malabar Diocese on 8-3-2015.
On 30th November and 1st December 2016,new church was consecrated by H.H. Baselios Marthoma Poulose 2nd, Catholicose of the East and Malnkara Metropolitan.
