It is believed that St.Thomas might have visited Mala, despite non availability of historical evidences.
About 300 A D a church was erected in the name of St.Thomas at Ampazhakkad by early Christians, who migrated from Kodungallur, the cradle of Christianity in India.
According to the traces from history, early Christians of Mala belonged to that church.
The beginning of a church in Mala was a small station church, unknown when it was erected.
A record from the church archives establishes that a second church was built in 1840 A D.
It is not sure that when the parish was erected, but the records from 1873 A D is available.
In 1949 October 2nd, Mar George Alappat Bishop of Thrissur, laid foundation stone for a new church.
In 1953 December 6th, Mar Eugene Cardinal Tisserant blessed the new church.
In 1979, parish was raised to the status of forane.
